First work party of the 2018 Season

On the 25th March the first work party of the season headed out to mainly to put up some club signage and survey the river banks to see how much litter had accumulated over the winter. Signage was erected at three entry points in the industrial estate and at Maudlin bridge.

The river bank was found to be in quite a bad state behind the recycling centre and at an storm outflow slightly further downstream. The litter is possibly coming from the recycling centre by blowing over the fence or was possibly dumped deliberately by someone accessing the back of the industrial estate.

Sadly, another spillage was discovered coming from the storm drains of the business park. It looks like an oil based paint and doesn’t seem to have made it to the river as it appears to be settling on the ground near the outflow. Although a small spillage, each one has the ability to cause a fish kill and poison the water in the river. If, while out fishing or walking the river, you discover any littering or spillages please report them straight way to the club phone (0851535320) or by email to hello@kellsanglers.com
